Promo codes
You create promo codes, a percentage or a fixed amount off, that your customers type in the cart when they order takeaway.
In Menu, the Discounts tab lists the business's promo codes. A customer types the code in the cart and the discount comes off the whole order, never off one dish. Restoman always works out the final total when the order is placed.
Who can: the owner, the admins and the accountant see them. The owner, the admins and anyone with a custom role that has "Promo codes: Edit" create and change them; editing the menu is not enough. Restoman support can see them, but never creates or changes a code.
Create a code
- In New code, type the Code: 3 to 20 letters and digits, no spaces, for example
WELCOME. Case doesn't matter: the customer can typewelcome. - Choose the Discount type:
- Percentage: 1 to 100, for example
10. It is rounded down to the cent. - Fixed amount: in pesos, for example
5,000. It never takes off more than the order.
- Percentage: 1 to 100, for example
- If you like, fill in:
- Minimum order: the order, before the discount, has to reach this amount.
- Maximum uses: how many paid orders can use it. Required when the code can make an order free: 100% off, or a fixed amount without a minimum order above that amount.
- From and Until: the dates it works, both included, in the location's time.
- Where it works: with several locations, tick the ones it works at. With none ticked, it works at every one.
- Tap Create code.
What the list shows
Each code shows its discount, the minimum, where it works, how many times it was used ("23 of 100") and when it is valid: the dates, "ends in 15 days" when little is left, Scheduled before it starts, Expired once it ended and Used up once it reached its maximum uses.
A use counts once the order is paid. An order waiting for payment holds its use meanwhile; if the customer doesn't pay and the order expires, the use comes back a few minutes later. If you cancel a paid order, it comes back too.
Edit, switch off and on
Tap the code to load it into the form, change what you need and tap Save changes. The Active switch turns it off or on at once. A code that is off can't be used in new orders; orders already placed keep their discount. Codes are never deleted, so every order keeps showing which code it was placed with.
Tips, orders at no charge and refunds
- Tip: worked out on what is left after the discount, and added at the end.
- No charge: when the code covers the whole order and there is no tip, the order is confirmed at once, without Mercado Pago, and reaches the counter like any other. That is why such a code always has maximum uses.
- Refunds: if you cancel an order with a discount, what the customer paid is refunded; one at no charge is canceled the same way, with nothing to refund.
The counter and each order's detail show the code and how much it took off.
