# Shifts

> You plan each location's week, who works each day and when, shifts past midnight included.

Shifts are who works at each location, which day and from when to when. You open them from **Shifts**, in the **LOCATION** part of the menu, with the location chosen at the top.

**Who can:** the whole team of the location sees them: the manager, the cashiers, the waiters and the kitchen, plus the owner, the admins and the accountant. The owner, the admins and the manager plan them. An archived location shows its shifts as they were, without changes.

## The week

Each row is a person and each column a day, Monday to Sunday. Today is highlighted. **Previous** and **Next** move between weeks.

The grid shows the people who work at that location, plus those who work at every location (the owner, the admins and anyone with access to all of them). To add someone to a location, change their locations in [Team](https://docs.restoman.mersich.net/en/guia/editar-persona.md).

A day the location does not open by its [hours](https://docs.restoman.mersich.net/en/guia/horario.md), or with a closure, says **Closed**. It is a hint: you can still put a shift on that day, for a stocktake for example.

On a phone, the grid scrolls sideways.

## Add a shift

1. Tap **Shift** at the top, or go to **New shift** on the side.
2. Pick the **Person** and the **Day**.
3. Fill in when it **Starts** and when it **Ends**. If it ends past midnight, enter the time as it is: 19:00 to 01:00. Below it says "Ends the next day.", and the shift counts for the day it starts.
4. If you like, write a **Note (optional)**, such as "Bar" or "Closing".
5. Tap **Add shift**.

A person cannot have two shifts at the same time, at this location or another. A shift ending right when another starts is fine.

## Change or remove a shift

Tap the shift in the grid. **Edit shift** shows on the side: change the day, the times or the note and tap **Save shift**, or tap **Remove shift**. **Cancel** goes back to **New shift** without changing anything.

## Copy last week

A week with no shifts shows **Copy last week**: it copies the week before's shifts, each on the same day a week later. Left out are those of anyone who no longer works at the location and those that would overlap another shift of that person; the notice says how many.

When someone leaves the business, their shifts that haven't started yet are deleted. The ones they already worked stay on the grid, with "No longer with the business" under their name, and can't be changed.

## What each notice means

| Notice | What happened and what to do |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| That person already has a shift at that time, at this location or another. | Two shifts of the same person overlap. Mind the ones past midnight: they run into the next day. |
| The start and end times cannot be the same. | Check both times. |
| Fill in the start and end times. | The shift is missing one of its two times. |
| Pick the person. | Pick someone in **Person**. |
| That person does not work at this location. Add them to it from Team. | Change their locations in [Team](https://docs.restoman.mersich.net/en/guia/editar-persona.md) and try again. |
| This week has shifts already: last week is copied only into an empty week. | Add the shifts by hand, or remove the ones there and copy again. |
